Goals from Luis Suarez, Paco Alcacer, Ivan Rakitic and Neymar gave Barcelona a 4-1 win at 10-man Granada on 2 April and ensured they remained two points behind La Liga leaders Real Madrid.

Barcelona recorded a 6-1 win which will go down in history for its epicness as well as its controversies.

Suarez's goal was his 23rd in the league this season, leaving him second to Messi with 25. "He's been sublime, he's been involved in two goals and he's been a constant threat to Granada".

The prolific attacker was forced to watch from the stands after receiving his fifth booking of the season in the 4-2 win against Valencia, but Luis Enrique feels it was good for Messi to get some extra rest.

Neymar and especially Luis Suarez ensured that Messi wasn't missed at the weekend, but his return will be important against a Sevilla side that looks to have run off the rails in recent matches. The Andalusians have really hit a terrible run of form and come into this game without a win in 5 matches, having failed to see off lowly Sporting Gijon at home at the weekend.

Jorge Sampaoli's side had enjoyed an excellent season but, in the last month, it has been eliminated from the Champions League's Round of 16 and seen its Liga title chances fading away. "It's hard for us to accept it", Sevilla forward Stevan Jovetic said. We are the same team that we were five matches ago, when we were in second place.

Madrid also have a game in hand, but Barca can ramp up the pressure on their title rivals by going top with victory before Real travel to Leganes later tonight.

"They are numbers at the reach of a beast of a player", said Enrique. Even though against a considerably weaker opponent, it was Barca's chance to prove their mettle in his absence - and they did. It is 17th in the 20-team standings, only one spot above the relegation zone.

"Playing every three days, you can't always play perfectly for 90 minutes", said Real boss Zinedine Zidane.

Madrid has won four in a row in the league and has scored at least a goal in its last 50 games in all competitions.
