It is understood that when President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping were meeting in Florida on April, Ivanka Trump's firm won provisional approval from China for three new trademarks, covering jewellery, bags and spa services.

Meanwhile, the first daughter seems to be benefiting from having a seat at her father's table, as she and her husband, Jared Kushner, appear to be fundamental components of her father's dealings with China.

Conflict of interest laws do not allow federal officials, such as Ivanka, her husband Jared Kushner and father, from taking part in government issues that can influence their financial interests.

"Ivanka will not weigh in on business strategy, marketing issues, or the commercial terms of agreements", her attorney, Jamie Gorelick, told the AP in a statement.

"The federal ethics rules do not require you to recuse from any matter concerning a foreign country just because a business that you have an ownership interest in has a trademark application pending there", she added. As the AP report shows, Ivanka Trump could also be seen as trying to curry favor with world leaders in order to help promote and expand her brand. Sweet argued that the Chinese trademarks carry "the appearance of impropriety" because "it is possible that she knew about these pending business deals" after taking a role in the White House.

Ivanka Trump calls her father a homebody. According to a February 15 report from the AP, the president was able to secure several other valuable trademarks, which had been held up for years by the Chinese government, just days after his inauguration.

Ivanka Trump also gets her lowest marks from the millennial age bracket, similarly to the first lady. Her brother-in-law and sister-in-law serve as trustees, while Abigail Klem, her brand's president, runs the company's day-to-day operations.

The applications in China have involved a bewildering array of products, from jewelry and underwear, to mattresses and formula milk powder - all filed in the name "Ivanka Trump" or similar sounding names since her father became USA president. The AP report notes that USA imports of Ivanka Trump merchandise manufactured in Asia increased approximately 40 percent in the first quarter of 2017.

The number of Ivanka Trump items sold through Lyst was 46 percent higher the month her father was elected president than in November 2015.

Conway was responding to a Trump family clash with Nordstrom, the department store chain, which has dropped Ms. Trump's line.

But in China, President Trump's second-oldest kid is fast becoming a cult figure - complete with an online fan club dedicated to "Goddess Ivanka".

"They're licensing the brand name to others, so its critical, mission critical, to have the certificate of trademark registration", he says. But King, who voted for Hillary Clinton, said she believes Trump's role in the White House represents a conflict of interest. Boycotts of Ms. Trump's products have become quite fashionable, with liberal activists going so far as to say that all of Amazon should be avoided for selling her wares.
