Bulls Look to Seize 3-0 Lead on Celtics in Game 3

If Washington is able to win twice more against the Hawks, then they'll be slated to play the victor of the Chicago-Boston series.

Arguably, the most surprising story line of the National Basketball Association playoffs thus far is the 2-0 lead the No. 8 seed Chicago Bulls have taken over the No. 1 seed, Boston Celtics.

Despite his problems, the former Celtic regained his starting role towards the end of the year and was a huge factor in Chicago taking a 2-0 lead with back-to-back wins in Boston. Chicago won the first two games in Boston.

Overall, my wins above replacement metric rated Rondo as producing 0.4 WARP through two games. Now I get to experience it up close and personal, I f-- love it. He said we looked like a team that wasn't having fun. We looked like a team that (wasn't) soaking in the moment.

Isaiah [Thomas] played a clip from KG before the game, and it kind of got us going a little bit. Wade has given Chicago a lift as well, especially in closing stretches in the fourth quarter. Backup guard Michael Carter-Williams had two points, three assists and three turnovers, and it's hard to shake the image of him bricking an bad jump shot early in the second quarter with the Celtics up by 20 points.

They brought in Rajon Rondo and then Wade in free agency, moves that seemed to go against the idea of getting younger.

As the final buzzer sounded for Washington's 109-101 victory over the Atlanta Hawks in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference first-round series Wednesday night, Oubre went up to a ball that was on the ground and kicked it. Their defense has been terrible in this series, but they know that if they play better, they should have no problem containing one of the worst shooting teams in the league, who now have to legitimate option to run the point.

Prayers up to Thomas and his family during this rough time. He scored eight points in the third quarter, helping the Celtics regain control, and finished with nine assists in the game. (There's a constant debate about how Bradley's defensive metrics don't match up with his much more positive eye test defensively, but regardless of where you fall on that debate, we're hard pressed to say anything too bad about Bradley after this Game 3 outcome.) In fact, nearly mirroring Butler's game-worst plus-minus was Bradley with a plus-22, trailing only Jae Crowder's plus-23.

It is occasionally possible to play through a thumb fracture, as Boston guard Avery Bradley did in 2015, but even most thumb fractures like Rondo's that don't require surgery sideline the player at least three weeks.

"We get caught up in wanting to do a lot out there, which we normally do, and that's OK", Butler said. If they come out aggressive and energized, it will be hard to take them down in game three.

Celtics: Coach Brad Stevens shook up the lineup looking for more shooting and athleticism.

Green had logged only six minutes to Johnson's 27, and the Boston coach sounded eager to see the impact Green might make. The ball movement was on point, every player contributed, and no one player was relied upon too heavily.
