"For me all the riders in this table plus Dovizioso can win in a normal conditions but everything is open for everybody if you have mixed, or wet".

"I enjoyed very much".

Vinales, who moved to Yamaha from Suzuki ahead of this campaign, prevailed in a ding-dong battle with Ducati's Dovizioso, which saw the lead change hands several times, with his team-mate Valentino Rossi taking third ahead of defending champion Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda).

A stunning start from Andrea Iannone (Team Suzuki Ecstar) from P2 was soon overshadowed as rookie Johann Zarco (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) slammed into the lead in the first laps, getting away and making a gap as Vinales found himself falling back into the clutches of his teammate.

After trading places for a few laps and the race impossible to call, the Spaniard was then able to hold off the Italian on the penultimate lap - and made it to the line to take his second MotoGP win, and his first in Yamaha colors.

"Maverick is really fast but it was to be expected", said the Spaniard.

"But Friday was better and I started to improve, so from that moment I was quite optimistic to arrive in the first five".

Valentino Rossi will rev up for a 10th world title tilt amid a field of young rivals including new Yahama teammate Maverick Vinales as the 2017 MotoGP season roars into action in Qatar this weekend.

"I think it's very hard to understand something like this after this race because it was a odd weekend but especially a unusual race: the race was quite slow, the conditions were quite bad and the grip wasn't normal, so also the gap from a lot of riders was quite small and I don't think it is the reality".

"I feel quite confident on the bike".

"I'm very curious to see how the Yamaha will respond...and to see if we are going to be as strong during the race as during the test".

"From a technical point of view, we're starting this Championship better than the last one". They have a very good bike but also they don't have experience in MotoGP, how to manage everything, and it is normal they can make a mistake - especially I think because he had a soft tyre like me, so I think he was leading and tried to push because he wanted to go fast. His penultimate lap means he has a ideal start to a new season.
