Vin Diesel on Paul Walker: We don't want to let him down

Tensions grew between Johnson and Diesel after Johnson took to Facebook, writing: "My female co-stars are always awesome, and I love 'em".

Ahead of its release is just a couple of weeks time, Universal have put online a brand new featurette for Fast and Furious 8 (aka The Fate of the Furious).

"It's a hard one, it was a hard decision to make", Diesel said. Part of Paul's legacy lives through every frame that we shoot. They say the schedules could've easily been shifted around so they could both attend the screening and promote the movie together, but the studio (or whoever) wants to keep Diesel and Johnson apart.

Diesel said it was actually Walker who had promised an eighth chapter in the franchise, and so he has always kept that in his mind.

Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Kurt Russell, franchise newcomer Charlize Theron, and director F. Gary Gray were on hand to present the film, the eighth in the franchise and first to not star Paul Walker, who died in a 2013 auto crash.

The film sees Diesel's Dom being seduced by a woman and falling into a world of crime, betraying those closest to him.

Here is a sentence that is nearly too painfully sad to type: Vin Diesel teared up while delivering a tribute to his late best friend Paul Walker during a screening of The Fast & The Furious.

- Back in August it was reported that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson & Vin Diesel were having issues during the filming of The Fate of the Furious.
