Shah Rukh Khan has consistently been among the highest tax payers of the country. Based on the same, Shah Rukh Khan appealed for contention which was however rejected by ITAT.

The superstar had been served notices by the IT department on multiple occasions for allegedly not paying proper tax.

According to the ITAT ruling, Star India and Khan had entered into an agreement for 104 episodes where the latter was supposed to host the game show. Shah Rukh demanded exemption of this 10 crore rupees, claiming this was his expense.

In the first case, the ITAT allowed SRK a deduction of Rs 10 crore that was paid to him for Kaun Banega Crorepati, a television game show, which used to air on Hindi general entertainment channel, Star Plus. But the tax officer didn't agree with Shah Rukh's claim and wanted him to pay tax, including on this amount.

Shah Rukh Khan then spoke about why he made a decision to employ female body guards. But he struck a counter-deal as per which, the sponsorship of Kolkata Knight Riders ( an IPL team owned by SRK), will be awarded to Star India, and he would pay Rs 10 crore to the team.

A year later, Shah Rukh took possession of the property, comprising the 8,500 square feet six-bedroom villa with an exclusive beach and a private pool. Following the previous rules, SRK didn't offer his foreign property for taxation in India but now his Income Tax file is being reworked under "income from house property".
