About 30 minutes later, another powerful bomb went off near Ashang Khullen village, not far from the first blast spot, injuring the polling official.

The blast took place at 5:30 pm in a pharmacy located at Kashturi bridge, Thangal Bazar.

The rest of the injured were discharged from the same hospital after being given the first aid, the police said. However, initial reports claimed that 3 persons were injured out of which 2 were critically injured. However, elections were not held in the area, but still the blast will somehow remind people of the 2012 blast during the polls.

Over 86 per cent votes, highest since 2009, were cast in the second and final phase of the Manipur Assembly polls on Wednesday, officials said.

Imphal had voted in phase 1 of the elections on March 4.

Besides this incident, polling was generally peaceful in the 22 constituencies spread over six districts, -Thoubal, Ukhrul, Chandel, Tamenglong, Kamjomg and Senapati.

Repolling was held in 34 polling stations in three districts of Manipur on Thursday amid tight security.
