Purdue vs. Kansas - Five things to watch for

Slowing down the top-seeded Jayhawks will be the task for third-seeded OR in the Midwest Regional final Saturday (8:49 p.m. EDT) at Sprint Center. Central time on TBS.

"We're going to have to sweat one out, we know that", Kansas coach Bill Self said.

Purdue actually led by as many as eight with under seven minutes left in the first half, but Kansas closed the period on a run to lead by seven at halftime, an early warning to the Boilermakers about what was going to happen after the break. "We've seen a team with shooters, but I don't think we've seen a team with both".

Guards Frank Mason III and Devonte' Graham combined for 52 points and the Kansas Jayhawks blasted past Purdue 98-66.

Mason was almost unstoppable with the basketball in his hands, putting up 26 points, seven assists and seven rebounds.

Since Oregon can not afford to get Brooks into foul trouble, I'd look for Dana Altman to have his team play more zone than usual. The Jayhawks won their three NCAA tournament games by 90 points.

With Swanigan at 6-9, 250 pounds and averaging 18.5 points and 12.6 rebounds a game, Kansas is sure to run into some issues.

Josh Jackson #11 of the Kansas Jayhawks reacts in the second half as Caleb Swanigan #50 of the Purdue Boilermakers looks on during the 2017 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Midwest Regional at Sprint Center on March 23, 2017 in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Big Ten Tournament champs end the season with a 26-and-12 record.

Foul trouble limited Lucas to 20 minutes against Purdue, so he should be fresh, even after battling Purdue's massive post players.

"Purdue will attempt to utilize its size (five players taller than 6'8") and beat the Jayhawks in the paint. The Boilermakers made it to the Final Four in 1969 and 1980 and got to the championship game in 1969 behind All-American Rick Mount before losing to Lew Alcindor-led UCLA, coached by Purdue graduate John Wooden.

Mykhailiuk made a pair of 3-pointers during KU's critical 17-3 run. They needed some huge last-minute points to barely get by 11th-seeded Rhode Island in the second round, but Oregon's been mighty impressive in its own right offensively. The victor moves on to the Final 4 in Glendale, Ariz.

It was a frustrating night for a team that had done so much this season, but still wanted more. Mason started and ended it, but it was Lagerald Vick's acrobatic 360-degree dunk in transition that brought a roar that shook the playing floor. By the time the buzzer sounded for intermission, the Jayhawks had built a 47-40 lead.

Kansas has experience, but that won't be what carries this team.

2012- Purdue was a lowly 10 seed here but was lucky to be in the tournament.

- West Region: No. 4 West Virginia over No. 1 Gonzaga - West Region: No. 2 Arizona over No. 11 Xavier - South Region: No. 4 Butler over No. 1 North Carolina - South Region: No. 3 UCLA over. They lost to No. 4 seed MI, 87-85 (OT), in 2013. As the game wore on and fatigue set in for Purdue, the Kansas throttle continued, the shots got better, and the dunks got more ferocious. He has 21 games of at least 20 points.

The three that followed by freshman Josh Jackson on the next possession was the finisher. Zak Irvin had 14 of his 19 points in the second half and DJ Wilson had 12 points. The Jayhawks/Boilermakers game is being livestreamed across a variety of platforms: NCAA.com, the NCAA March Madness Live app, and over at CBS All Access. The Bulldogs have struggled on the boards this year and are 323rd in the country in rebounds per game (32.2), while the Tar Heels lead the country in rebounds per game (43.8). Those two teams shouldn't have saw that quality of an opponent that early.

Dorsey is shooting 46.5 percent from the field, the best of all Oregon's regular starters (junior Dillon Brooks shoots 50 percent but has only started 25 of Oregon's 37 games).
