Manchester United want to sign Tottenham and England midfielder Eric Dier this summer as Jose Mourinho sees him as the ideal replacement for Michael Carrick.

Bakayoko, 22, joined Monaco from Rennes in 2014, and the new France global has starred as a box to box midfielder, possessing pace, strength, passing ability and a strong reading of the game in front of the back four.

The 22-year-old, who has been Monaco's standout star in midfield this season, has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, as well as Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea was reported to be leading the chase to sign Bakayoko but now the Manchester Evening News has claimed United could steal in.

Monaco, who are three points clear of PSG at the top of Ligue 1, play their league rivals in the French League cup on Saturday.

Recent reports indicated that the Frenchman had agreed terms with Chelsea ahead of a summer move, but the Manchester Evening News understands that's not the case. "He has always dreamed of PSG".

Soualio told RMC."We've talked about it because Tiemoue is Parisian".

'When he was young, he wanted to go to PSG.

"When I said to him, 'Imagine, one day, you sign for PSG, ' he told me, 'I would really like that". If they were to offer me a deal, I don't see why I would refuse it'.

"It's what I'm waiting for, but I'm patient and won't demand game time".
