Germaine De Randamie Calls For Holly Holm Rematch Due To Controversy

Afterwards, Holm stated that she thought she deserved the win, but Cyborg actually agrees with the judges' decision the way it was rendered at the event with de Randamie being awarded the victory.

In Justino's mind, de Randamie-who defeated Holly Holm on Saturday at UFC 208 in Brooklyn to capture the first-ever women's featherweight belt-is just the interim champ.

Regardless of who is wearing the title right now, Cyborg sent a strong statement to de Randamie in a conversation with FOX Sports that with or without a UFC belt, she's still the best women's fighter on the planet.

Because she was unable to take the fight on the proposed date, Cyborg says it wasn't hard to sit and watch de Randamie and Holm battle for the title but clearly she knows that a championship belt doesn't necessarily make you the best fighter in the world.

"I didn't fight last weekend because of my health". Never did I punch around or over the referee to deliver a cheap shot on Holly.

"I have nothing but respect for Holly and the UFC, and because of that I want to say right now that I owe it Holly and the fans to do this fight again and make sure that the victor of this historic belt is crystal clear".

"Holly let's do this again".

"I wouldn't expect them to take a point after the first one, even though it was intentional", Holm said. The second time, at that point you think at that point, they'd do something.

The former bantamweight champion's call for a rematch was accepted by the newly crowned UFC women's featherweight champion. It was intentional and it was after the bell. It's likely this division was created with the idea to showcase Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino, the Invicta FC featherweight champion who has competed in a couple of 140-pound catchweight bouts in the UFC but typically fights at featherweight. De Randamie has also reported that she needs surgery on her hand, so if she undergoes the procedure, then a rematch would be months away. When she is able to defend her crown, her next fight may not be the rematch, but rather a showdown with the fighter widely viewed as the cream of the 145-pounders, Cris "Cyborg" Justino. "My team has been watching her for awhile and I feel confident they see opportunities to exploit her weaknesses in MMA". It was her third straight defeat, so she should be nowhere near a title fight in any weight class right now.

"I really felt happy that happened to my division", Cyborg added.
