Akhilesh has destroyed UP : PM Modi

This year's election in Uttar Pradesh is witnessing a high-octane contest between the country's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, the state's ruling Samajwadi Party and its ally Congress, and the state's main opposition Bahujan Samaj Party.

He asked people to vote for his party in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2017 as he is in Badaun this year.

The first of the seven phases of the Assembly election is taking place in the state on Saturday (February 11).

"We want a government of youth must come to power in UP".

Almost 2.6 crore people are there in 73 constituencies of western Uttar Pradesh who are eligible to vote, according to the litmus test for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's in his three-year rule.

"Our Govt is dedicated to serve the poor, marginalised & farmers; we are initiating several steps to uplift them", said Narendra Modi, appealing to the voters to give BJP a chance.

"The situation gets very bad here sometimes - there is fighting between groups, between Hindus and Muslims", said Bhagwati Prasad, who sells materials for Hindu cremation ceremonies outside a temple in Lucknow.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi were at their articulate best during the launch of 'Common Minimum Programme' in Lucknow today. He said the SP brought a Sikh leader Balwant Singh Ramuwalia from Punjab and inducted him as minister.

The two leaders will together release the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) here, Congress leader Satyadev Tripathi said.

The modification of Uttar Pradesh police, law and order, and development issues will also be enlisted in the programme.
