As housewarming parties go, West Ham United could not have wished for a better introduction to life in their shiny new Stratford home.

They might be about to play their first game at their new ground but, according to West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic, the new London Stadium doesn't feel like home just yet.

West Ham will not want to break the bank for a defender who is unlikely to get much game time when Cresswell returns around Christmas. More work is needed, and some of the sightlines might keep local opticians busy, but the overwhelming sensation was of a project that will succeed.

West Ham's new abode was a 54,000 sell-out despite not looking quite the finished product, with a hastily-laid mixture of astroturf and tarpaulin covering the athletics track. It's a totally different thing.

Wins will help West Ham adjust to new home, says Bilic was posted in Sports of TheNews International - https://www.thenews.com.pk on August 05, 2016 and was last updated on August 05, 2016.

Pukki erased Hertha's slim 1-0 lead from the first-leg inside three minutes, and though Vedad Ibisevic put the German club back in front on the half-hour mark, Pukki hit his second goal four minutes later.

"Unfortunately we played a bad game so result is logical".

West Ham secured the lead for the first time in the tie quarter of an hour later, just as the visitors were hinting at an equaliser, as Kouyate bagged his second of the night by prodding home an Andy Carroll knockdown.

Bilic said: "Yes this is an opportunity for West Ham to establish themselves but as well (to think like) this is unsafe".

But his focus lies exclusively on West Ham now having made his home debut on the first night at their new Olympic Stadium home.

'I felt comfortable from the first minute, I thought the fans might be too far away here but you could hear them as soon as we walked in'.

When asked if he had come back to England with something to prove, he said: "No, I had five and a half quite good years in Germany". This was the first time we could judge it and it was more than I expected.
