New release to cast spell on area library

Whitby Bookshop has teamed up with the Whitby Gazette to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a free copy of the new Harry Potter playscript, worth £20.

Although Janke Book Store won't be open for a release party, owner Jane Janke Johnson said that they will have the book when they open on Monday morning at 9 a.m. Parties will be held in different places in New Orleans, just to celebrate the release of the "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child", which happens to land on the same day of Harry Potter's birthday, July 31.

The stellar London launch and the massive global following for Rowling's stories are clear signs that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is shaping up to be the next worldwide stage blockbuster.

Toby told us: "Harry Potter and reading are my two favourite things so to be able to combine them is a dream come true". Activities include a sorting hat exercise dividing customers into houses, a Harry Potter look-alike contest and a wand-making craft.

"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" is a two-part West End stage play written by Jack Thorne, J.K. Rowling and John Tiffany.

To facilitate an easier book pick up the night of the event, pre-purchase a copy of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" through McLean & Eakin. The store will have a brunch from 10 noon.

But Hodges Figgis on Dawson Street in Dubin, Bridge Street Books in Wicklow, and Waterstones in Drogheda will sell the book as soon as the clock strikes midnight. "It's the next piece of the Harry Potter canon that we love".

U.S. publisher Scholastic has also revealed it has printed 4.6 million copies for its first print run.

"We've passed the six-figure milestone on pre-orders, which I'm delighted about".

Plus: Four-hour Potter Party begins at 9 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble at NMSU Bookstore & Café, 1400 E. University Ave., with reading, lightning bolt tattoos and video clips.
