But fate was about to lend a hand, as Nunez's vehicle hit an up-slope, or slight bump in the road, metres behind the dog, lifting the auto into the air, over the dog, and back onto the road. The pup unknowingly ventured right into the middle of the dirt track at the Codasur 2016 rally on Sunday, then came shockingly close to getting hit by a speeding rally vehicle.

It's not likely the driver somehow saw the dog and managed to send the vehicle into the air over the top of it, so we've decided this little chappie is most definitely the luckiest dog on the planet.

As you'd imagine, the close call was followed by a huge sigh of relief from the crowd in attendance.

Suddenly a speeding rally auto loomed and it all appeared to be over for the hapless dog.

People watching the race can be heard cheering in the background both for the vehicle and the lucky canine who is followed by a man in a military uniform.
