Actor Matthew McConaughey has been quite visible at the Rio Olympics this summer in Brazil.

The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio have already given us an unlikely star in the lifeguard with the most pointless job in the world, while bringing Aly Raisman's intense parents back into our lives. "Then Japan comes out, super keen, really fast, obviously believing they could win".

The sports fan recently revealed he might be the only member of his family rooting for Team USA - he recently told America's Today show, "I'll be cheering for Team USA".

Asked whether he's currently meant to be shooting a movie, McConaughey replied: "This is my movie now".

During events ranging from swimming to rugby to basketball, McConaughey has been on the scene, either seated with his wife or in the stands alone, along with posing for photos with athletes and getting schooled in rugby by United States of America team member Jillion Potts in front of NBC cameras.

After a break at 6pm, the action will resume at 8pm, when the knockout stages will commence.

The USA women's sevens side qualified for the quarter-finals of the Olympics as one of the two third-placed qualifiers in their group, but just fell short to the New Zealand women's side 5-0 after a Portia Woodman try.
