Whereas Mendy will help to create that, so too will the club's new record signing Ahmed Musa, along with the prodigious young Polish talent Bartosz Kaputska and Luis Hernandez, who is a domineering and powerful Spanish centre back.

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has signed a new five-year deal with Premier League champions Leicester City.

He helped Leicester to the 2013-14 Championship title and kept 15 clean sheets during last term's Premier League triumph.

The France global, who played all but one Premier League game in Leicester's historic title-winning campaign last season, joined the Blues for £32m last month. It was a very easy decision.

"We've taken some massive steps and ever since I arrived it's been fantastic".

The 29-year-old Denmark goalkeeper says "I've come back (from winning the title) absolutely convinced that this is the place for me to be". "I've loved being here from minute one". They have a minimum of six big matches to play in between Premier League matches so that changes their season but they have a better squad. Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez were heavily linked with a move to Arsenal but Ranieri and the other Leicester City player have managed to convince them to stay at the club.

Eric Bailly looked to be in good spirits with Juan Mata as the Manchester United duo prepared for the trip down to London ahead of Sunday's Community Shield clash with Leicester City.

Schmeichel was one of the Foxes' key performers in their remarkable title success last season, playing every minute of every game.
