Kanye West slams Taylor Swift (again!) at 2016 VMAs

Beyonce accepts the Female Video of the Year award during the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards in NY, U.S., August 28, 2016.

As the leading nominee, all eyes were on her to prove herself as the biggest musical act of her generation.

Soon enough, the office sweater Britney was wearing - it probably gets drafty in Madison Square Garden - comes off, as it's time to get down to business.

It was reminiscent of the 2014 VMAs, when Beyonce also performed for 16 minutes and accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award.

Your job may not involve performing on stage at MSG, but studies consistently prove that people who dress up in the office work harder, achieve their goals and are perceived as more intelligent than their peers. Not only did she lip sync, in typical fashion, she did so badly.

"We wanted to do something different, something I've never done before". I'm standing in front of the Future, Chance the Rapper. The Queen took home eight moonmen, including top prize for video of the year.

"My theory on the #Drake #Rihanna *kiss* is that she didn't wana ruin her bomb ass lipstick or night about her achievements-not her love life", one viewer tweeted.

"Thank you to my fans".

"She's someone I've been in love with since I was 22 years old". "Have a lovely night".

The Single Ladies singer arrived at the event with her four-year-old daughter Blue Ivy and supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement, including Sybrina Fulton, the mother of murdered teenager Trayvon Martin.

Kanye got onto the subject of his controversial track "Famous" and it's music video, which, as you'll remember is why West and Swift most recently fell out. I came here to present my new video. West preceded the video with a rambling, improvised speech that touched on poverty, his wife Kim Kardashian, his long-running feud with Taylor Swift, and violence in black neighborhoods.

"It was an expression of our now, our fame right now, us on the inside of the TV". Taylor this. Like bro, I love all y'all.

"I am Kanye West". Take, tell Taylor this.

"That's why I called her", he said with a laugh.

He referenced back to his own past antics when he acknowledged that his music video might lose to Beyonce in the video of the year category. Aside from Beyonce's "Formation", his competition includes Justin Bieber's "Sorry", Drake's "Hotline Bling" and Adele's "Hello".

During her performance the singer also had her backup dancers - dressed as bright, white angels - appear to be shot one by one. "The rapper-singer-producer performed his hit "(Expletive) Up Some Commas". Puff Daddy, who presented the award, said Drake was stuck in traffic. Harris accepted the award in a video message. The girl group also won song of the summer for "Flex (All In My Head)". The music video, which shows him looking frail in bed with bandaged eyes, was released just days before the icon's January 10 death.
