It is an MTV production after all. I'm always wishing for Beyonce to win, so.

The reigning queen of pop performed five songs from her visual album Lemonade and absolutely crushed it. There was even a literal mic drop at the end.

It was perhaps the best moment at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards when Drake got on stage with Rihanna, holding the golden Moon Man Vanguard Award to present to her. Despite the somewhat lacklustre response to Britney's VMAs comeback, the singer appeared happy with her performance. Jimmy Fallon, who presented video of the year, dressed as Ryan Lochte and even sported the platinum blonde hair.

The video for "Formation", directed by Melina Matsoukas, had offered solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement against police brutality with officers portrayed raising their hands as if under arrest.
