"If it comes down to having a choice on the ballot between voting for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, I'm voting against Hillary Clinton", Fishersaid. They really, really hate her. On that they can agree.

CLEVELAND- I'm happy to report that Anna Merlan and I are still alive and still in Cleveland. And they're doing a great job. It was then marred by accusations of plagiarism, dragged down mid-week by Ted Cruz's mainstage snub and distinguished, throughout its duration, by particularly virulent and ugly rhetoric. Trump will likely get a polling boost from his convention speech, and while some Republicans are splitting off the party in protest, led by Ted Cruz, who is trying to make them feel better about their decision to abstain, Trump supporters are feeling stronger than ever.

The newly crowned Republican nominee had hoped for a triumphant turn at the podium, but he was instead plagued by fresh political and policy headaches: His most tenacious primary rival, Sen. "Stand and speak, and vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket who you trust to defend our freedom and to be faithful to the constitution", Cruz told the crowd. "What's he doing? What's he doing?I think he's just an ideologue". He lost. He's a poor loser. I have seen him fight for his employees. Cruz is deeply unpopular with many fellow Republicans on Capitol Hill, after leading a politically disastrous government shutdown in 2013 and clashing with party leadership in the Senate, and defenders were few among elected officials.

Cruz has to walk a very precarious path now.

MAN: I don't blame him either way. It may be because she's been around as a political figure for so long or because her email server makes her look like she thinks she's above the law but the hatred of her here is vicious and visceral. "You know, Hillary Clinton wants a better title and I would too if I was already America's secretary of the status quo". He was booed off the stage as Trump entered during the speech and watched from the audience.

Praising him as "honest", "real", and an "optimist", Trump said to applause: "When you have my father in your corner, you never again have to be anxious about being let down".

King and Cruz famously clashed after Cruz derided Donald Trump's "New York values" in an early presidential debate.

Trump's speech was generally well received by members of the Texas delegation, even some Cruz loyalists. This morning, the senator showed no sign of backing down at a breakfast for his home state's delegation.

He said: "I suspect by the time they get done with Pence's speech and now with Trump's speech - you go through Pence's speech, he talked about policy after policy".

"That pledge was not a blanket commitment that, if you go and slander and attack Heidi, that I'm going to nonetheless come like a servile puppy dog and say, 'thank you very much for maligning my wife and my father, '" Cruz said.

For all of Cruz's dramatics, Trump is still in firm control of the party's message and its ability to rally its leaders for a tough fight against Hillary Clinton and Democrats.
