The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expected to make their first appearance at Royal Ascot today.

The Duchess, 34, seemed to be enjoying herself as she watched the races attentively and chatted with fellow royals and racegoers.

Princess Kate, who described her daughter to an onlooker last Thursday as "cute but feisty", cradled the toddler in her arms as Charlotte delighted the crowds with her first royal wave.

To incorporate a bit of nostalgia into her look, Middleton accessorized with her bespoke Robinson Pelham earrings featuring a diamond-encrusted teardrop, which she previously wore at her wedding in 2011.

"It hasn't happened for many years, but the going can only get softer and we imagine that there would be nothing worse than the Queen's carriage getting stuck in the quagmire", William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said. The event is all about modest, elegant style and Kate's dress totally stole the show - it looked like it was made for the special day.

I can't even tell the difference!
