So, good news, it seems as though Sunday Night Football will be getting a new theme song. NBC will unveil the new theme called "Oh, Sunday Night" before the game.

NBC has used a reworked version of Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself for Loving You" since it began televising National Football League games on Sunday nights in 2006, with "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" sung by Pink, Faith Hill and most recently Underwood.

Not completely different though - Carrie Underwood will still be performing the theme song to broadcast TV's top-rated program.

The song is based on her 2014 hit country duet “Somethin Bad, ” with Miranda Lambert, but with new lyrics and additional changes to fit the program.

Technically, Sunday Night Football will open on Thursday, September the 8th with a rematch between Super Bowl 50 teams Carolina Panthers visiting the defending champion Denver Broncos.

"When we got into the recording studio in Nashville, the song instantly came to life, and will be a dynamic addition to our show".

Underwood is now on the road, on her 2016 Storyteller Tour, which she recently extended through November.
