Among the new Acer devices unveiled in NY today is the Chromebook 14 for Work, the first Chromebook to feature a sixth-generation Intel core processor, the company said. The full name of the device is actually either the Chromebook for Work 14 or the Chromebook 14 for Work, which is a pretty clear indicator that this notebook is targeted toward enterprises and small businesses.

"Our commercial customers have an abundance of reasons to choose the new Acer Chromebook 14 for Work", said Jerry Hou, general manager, Commercial & Detachable Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer. "In addition, the Chromebook 14 for Work can be efficiently deployed and managed, while maintaining excellent security for its employees". It also provides up to 12 hours of battery life on models with the HD display; Full HD models provide up to 10 hours of battery life2. The device is powered by a 6-Generation Celeron and Core processors which comes with 2GB or, 4GB or 8GB dual channel LPDDR3 SDRAM options and storage options of 16GB or 32GB eMMC storage options.

The Acer Chromebook 14 for Work has enhanced durability features. The new, ultra-thin Aspire S 13 devices are set to hit North American markets in May with prices starting at $699; the Acer Aspire R15, priced at $699 and up, will also become available in May. This is made possible thanks to the two drain holes which prevent the water from going towards the internal components and out through the bottom. The Chromebook 14 is also ruggedized to meet U.S. MIL-STD 810G military standards for impacts, moisture, drops and more. The body of the Chromebook 14 can withstand up to 60kgs of downward force and drops from up to 48 inches.

Weighing just 1.45kg (3.2 pounds) and packed with many robust features, the Chromebook surely won't come cheap. The tough exterior is also customizable with unique lid designs behind the glass.

There's no information on a United Kingdom price as yet, but the Chromebook 14 for Work will cost €249 (£195) when it goes on sale in Europe next month.
