State reports another death from the flu

Children's Wisconsin Hospital said 829 pediatric flu cases were reported in December.

The deadliest season was during the 2017-2018, which has killed 80,000.

The graph below is retrieved directly from CDC. Last week, 9,211 laboratory-confirmed flu cases were reported to the State Department of Health, a 74-percent increase in cases from the week prior.


The 2019-20 influenza activity has exceeded the second deadliest and is close to hitting the deadliest season.

The very young and the very old are the most susceptible to the flu.

While the flu virus can be unpleasant for anyone, if sufferers are otherwise healthy it usually clears up without treatment within a week.


This season, there have been 1,989 laboratory-identified influenza cases reported to the heraalth department compared to 750 at the same time previous year.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends a flu shot for everyone 6-months and older. So far, at least 170.3 million doses of the flu vaccine were already distributed all over the US.

-No visitors with flu-like symptoms (fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose, fever, vomiting, diarrhea) will be allowed. But these two are caused by different viruses.

Southeastern Health has other advice for slowing the spread of the flu and preventing infection.
