On top of that, GDQ has announced that it's also raised more than $25 million for charity across all of its events. That all added up to a Games Done Quick event with more donations than any that had gone before.

Games Done Quick, the biannual event which sees speedrunners from around the world gather to showcase their skills and raise money for charity, has just concluded its most recent event, Awesome Games Done Quick 2020, which celebrated its 10th anniversary. This year was no different, and AGDQ generated over $3.13 million in 24 hours for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

Games Done Quick has become a staple of the annual gaming calendar, with Awesome Games Done Quick at the start of the year and Summer Games Done Quick in, well, the summer, and a handful of special events. "Almost 100,000 over our previous record", Games Done Quick said on Twitter. Awesome Games Done Quick 2021 has already been announced for the week of January 3-10, 2021, with location TBA.

The event runs for continuously seven days, with 134 games run over. All Twitch Bits donated went towards AGDQ's final donation total, as did all proceeds from Twitch Bits donated throughout the week, GDQ Twitch channel subscriptions, and purchases from AGDQ partners, such as The Yetee.

The next Games Done Quick event will be Summer Games Done Quick, which will run from June 21 through to June 28.

In a video posted to Twitter, one member of the Prevent Cancer Foundation thanked Games Done Quick for their work. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
