Last month, the firm's longstanding CEO Ren Zhengfei told CNN that its phones' inability to provide Google apps and services would not "be a problem but it just takes time."When I say it takes time, what I'm referring to is the overseas market, because we will return to the overseas market next year, and the year after that", he explained. The world's largest manufacturer of telecoms equipment is also reported to be paying lavish bonuses to staff who help to circumvent the U.S. sanctions".

Huawei maintains a "clear preference to continue to integrate and buy components from USA supply partners".

While Huawei has not completely removed American companies from its business, its Y9 Prime and other Mate smartphones have a reduced number of USA chips used. This means that Huawei phones for next year will probably not use any component from the US.

Huawei claims there are no U.S. components in its Mate 30 or Mate 30 Pro smartphones, an early sign that it is tackling its United States trade ban head on by proving it doesn't need to work with American companies if forced. The company has started looking out for alternatives, though it still needs to deal with Google. These are designed by Hisilicon and manufactured by TSMC. The US government accused Huawei of spying for the Chinese government and had also asked its European allies to avoid resourcing Huawei devices for their 5G networks. Huawei is the largest global supplier of such technologies, with a 28% market share. Huawei progressed honorably over the course of the past few months. Components from other companies, including Japan's Murata and Taiwan's MediaTek, are also being used over those from the usual USA firms.

Additionally, Huawei told the Journal that all of its 5G hardware "is now America free". "It is good for Huawei, but we have no choice". The Mate 30 is unable to provide users with access to Google Play services as a result. The 5G phone was unveiled in September, with its own Huawei app store and Huawei Assistant.
