Mason Greenwood is not ready to demand a regular place in Manchester United's starting XI, according to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He is yet to start in the Premier League this season, but has played in 12 of United's 17 games this campaign.

Prior to kick-off, United hadn't scored twice in the first half of a game at Old Trafford since January.

After an equally inconsistent start to life in the Premier League, Graham Potter has Brighton playing good football and the Seagulls have won three of their past four games, including a 3-0 victory over Tottenham.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed "it won't be too long" before Paul Pogba is available again as the France global nears a return from his ankle injury.

'But these boys are learning and tonight will give them loads of pointers of how we play when we're performing well. If the team had played with the same intensity after Rashford's goal then the scoreline could have been far higher.

"He is very composed as well with his finishing", he said of Greenwood, who last month signed a new and improved contract until at least 2023.

"Right foot, left foot I still don't think he knows which is his best one which is very hard for defenders to defend against".

'Mason showed great composure, the keeper goes early and changes his mind. Anthony - that was probably the skill of the night, that goal.

"He said he was going to be okay out on the pitch and he said "I'll be fine".

It was an impressive show of attacking strength from United, who displayed the fluency and edge too often missing from their play this term.

At the other end it was positive too, Partizan did not even have a shot on target and we have still not conceded a goal in the Europa League.

'You expect to win at home against teams like this, no disrespect by Partizan. Of course after we scored the first goal, they went forward.

"We wanted to get through as quickly as we could and that long trip is not one you want to travel to and have to win", said Solskjaer.

Scott McTominay had to be withdrawn in the 75 minute after picking up a knock with Harry Maguire also looking to be struggling with something during the second 45.
