"As an athlete and just in life", Morgan said, "you should want pressure because that means your life is significant".

Beyond that, it would be the College Football Playoff. "Those gold towels were everywhere".

It came down to the last drive, up 31-26, with a little less than three minutes remaining.

Penn State entered the game with a fearsome defense, ranking second in the nation for fewest points allowed.

It was a long, arduous game for Minnesota.

From start to finish, the Gophers matched the moment.

Minnesota offense wasted no time taking advantage of the Winfield Jr. interception. Their championship chase can get back on track with a win at Ohio State in two weeks. He switched which hand he was holding the ball with and the ball simply slipped out.

Penn State: QB Sean Clifford. The order fluctuates from week to week based on new information. The Tigers later settled for a Cade York 40-yard field goal to take the 10-0 lead with 4:54 left in the first.

Penn State's first contest at Beaver Stadium since the White Out is placed between two of its toughest games of the season. The senior went 18-for-20 for 252 yards and three touchdowns. Both were inside the 10-yard line.

It gave LSU a 20-point lead at halftime.

But Minnesota needed to answer back.

The first sellout crowd for the Gophers at home in four years swarmed the field after the clock ran out, reveling in the first win at home over a top-five team since a shutout of No. 1 MI in 1977.

The only game left on Penn State's schedule without a network and time assignment is its regular season finale against Rutgers on November 30. On fourth down, Clifford looked for his star wide receiver junior KJ Hamler in the end zone, but redshirt senior cornerback Chris Williamson played the ball perfectly and swatted it away in the corner of the end zone.

And in the end, Minnesota held off the surging Nittany Lions for the win, moving to 9-0.

"He's a guy you want to marry your daughter", said Fleck.

Smith had 213 yards and a pair of touchdowns on seven catches for Alabama. That was also the second most receiving yards in school history. Their first trip to the Big Ten championship game is legitimately in play.
