The family was recently celebrated during an exhibition game between Albion and Michigan State at the Breslin Center.

Albion Chief of Public Safety Scott Kipp said Winston was struck by a westbound Amtrak Train at the Erie St. crossing in Albion at around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday night, November 9.

Kipp said that the investigation did show the incident was intentional after talking to the engineer conducting the Amtrak train and doing follow up interviews.

Amtrak media relations spokeswoman Kimberly D. Woods told the Free Press via email the Amtrak 355 Wolverine Train bound for Chicago "came into contact with a person on the track" and was temporarily suspended.

Zachary Winston is a college basketball player for Division III Albion along with his brother, Khy.

Winston was a sophomore finance major at Albion College in MI along with the youngest Winston brother, freshman Khy.

Albion College president Mauri A. Ditzler released a statement Sunday, but did not mention Winston's name. Beyond that, he was an extremely charismatic young man with an infectious smile. "That family is so tight, they didn't do anything without each other", Donnelly said, per the Free Press. He was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.

MSU basketball coach Tom Izzo released a statement on behalf of the team that said, "Our hearts are filled with sorrow for the Winston family".

Cassius Winston, an All-American and 2018-19 Big Ten Player of the Year, scored 21 points with four assists in 38 minutes during a season-opening loss against No. 2 Kentucky.

Michigan State is scheduled to play against Binghamton at home on Sunday at 7 p.m.

Athletes and friends of Winston have tweeted their condolences. All three attended University of Detroit Jesuit High School. Zachary, brother of Michigan State's Cassius Winston, didn't play due to an injury.
