Bolton Slams Trump Foreign Policy

A House Intelligence Committee official told them, "We regret Mr. Bolton's decision not to appear voluntarily, but we have no interest in allowing the administration to play rope-a-dope with us in the courts for months".

Bolton served as Trump's national security advisor for 17 weeks. Trump said he had fired him though Bolton said he'd resigned.

In a letter to the House General Counsel, Bolton's lawyer, Charles Cooper, wrote that his client would testify in the impeachment proceedings only if a court rules that he should ignore White House orders against it.


The White House tete-a-tete - along with an ensuing joint news conference - will unfold as the House opens public impeachment hearings showcasing Trump's relationship with another foreign leader, the president of Ukraine, even as lawmakers in both parties question Trump's seemingly warm ties with Erdogan.

Bolton specifically took aim at Trump's reluctance to impose economic sanctions on Turkey after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan purchased a Russian missile-defense system, especially given the bipartisan support in Congress for the measure, according to the news outlet. Trump himself admitted that his Trump Organization property in Istanbul poses "a little conflict of interest" during an interview in 2015, according to NBC.

More recently, after a phone call with Erdogan, Trump agreed to remove USA forces from northeast Syria to let Turkish forces come in. This put the U.S.'s Kurdish allies in jeopardy of being killed by the Turks. He also reportedly suggested that the president approaches foreign policy issues like real estate deals.


Bolton stated, using an eye roll that indicated he does not take them that Kushner and Ivanka Trump can do this in an effort to demonstrate they had actual influence and were at the White House representing the folks they are interested in being in social circles with dwelling in NYC, the folks present for his opinions said.

Those present said at the stage, the audience seemed shocked.
