Todd Gurley is doubtful, Aqib Talib out for Rams vs. 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 6 contest against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California.

Gurley popped up on the injury report this week with a thigh contusion, which McVay said caught the team "off-guard". "A lot of these conversations entail (how Gurley is) feeling, what kind of progress does he make throughout the course of the week".

If Gurley is unable to play, expect Malcolm Brown and rookie Darrell Henderson to carry the load at running back for the Rams.

There are no guarantees being made as to whether or not he will play this weekend but if the Rams want to win, they'll want Gurley present.

Though he has been healthy for all five games this season, Gurley has seen his workload cut dramatically thus far in 2019 relative to 2018. He's put up 270 rushing yards in five games and is on pace for a career-worst season.

It was reported this offseason that Gurley has an "arthritic component" to his left knee, in which he suffered a torn ACL in college.

In addition, the Rams will be without cornerback Aqib Talib, who was ruled out of the important divisional clash with a ribs injury. Both injuries occurred during the Rams' 30-29 loss to the Seattle Seahawks last week, a defeat that dropped the Rams' record to 3-2.
