Police respond to a church shooting in Pelham, New Hampshire

The New Hampshire State Police's major crime unit was on the scene, and the church remained surrounded by emergency personnel on Saturday, and some nearby roads remained closed by police.

The Pelham police chief, Joseph Roark, said no fatalities were reported in the shooting at New England Pentecostal church in Pelham.

CNN reported that two people were transported to a hospital with gunshot wounds, but their conditions were not known.


The police official said she did know how the shooter was taken into custody. Police said the shooter arrived at the scene after the wedding began.

Photos of the church showed ambulances, fire and police personnel on the grounds. The church is located at 955 Bridge Street in Pelham. Pelham is approximately 40 miles south of Concord, the state's capital.

In a statement, Lowell General Hospital said it had received one patient from the shooting and that person had been transferred to a hospital in Boston. Garcia, who had been a minister at the church, was shot dead on October 1 at a house in the nearby town of Londonderry.


Police in New Hampshire have responded to a church in Pelham for reports of a shooting. "While this remains a very active scene, the State of New Hampshire will provide all necessary resources to support the community and our local partners". His obituary said he was a minister at the church.

A funeral was scheduled to be held at the church after the wedding for 60-year-old Luis Garcia. Brandon Castiglione, 24, was arrested and charged with second degree murder in Garcia's death, but waived an arraignment and is now being held without bail according to state prosecutors.
