Because of that, Google believes that face unlock is not only secure enough to lock your phone - but also for financial transactions and other secure authentication features across Android. Save 25% on your Pixel 4 or Pixel 4 XL case using the discount code AAPixel4.

It's unlikely Google's Pixel business will be affected due to the Pixel 4 not launching in India, since the Pixel phones were never really popular in developing countries where people tend to prefer more affordable devices like the ones from OnePlus and Xiaomi.

Following a report by the BBC, Google said in a statement that "Pixel 4 Face Unlock meets the security requirements as a strong biometric".

The search giant's support website for the Pixel 4 acknowledges this issue, outright stating that "your phone can also be unlocked by someone else if it's held up to your face, even if your eyes are closed". When Android is in lockdown mode, it can only be unlocked with the passcode. Here's hoping that Google decides to abandon this decision in favor of folks who have disabilities and have difficulty using gestural navigation (or folks that just might prefer tried-and-true buttons). Together, they can scan your face in 3D regardless of ambient lighting. However, Google's Face Match doesn't check to make sure your eyes are open. Apple, on the other hand, only unlocks your phone if your eyes are open by default. Of course, you can always disable this extra security measure via the settings menu.

Google has touted its Face Match system as even faster than Apple's Face ID, and iPhone users seem to have adapted to that reasonably well.

Now, after the launch of the Pixel 4, we see even more changes.

If you're anxious about it, you can always turn on "lockdown", which disables features like notifications, and any of the phone's authentication methods. Alternatively, you may want to just stick to using a passcode.

Google has been exceptional at making phones with emphasis on photography.
