Guests on the newly opened Disney Skyliner were briefly left hanging Saturday night as it experienced "unexpected downtime", News 13 Orlando reports.

Walt Disney World's new Disney Skyliner gondola system. Passengers didn't know what was going on.

'We were trying to celebrate at Epcot, and we ended up seeing "Epcot Forever" but from the sky, ' he said. "And they got out some people".

News 6 reached out to the Occupational Health and Safety Administration, the National Transportation Safety Board and the Florida Department of Agriculture to see if they're investigating Saturday's scare at Disney.

This certainly does not bode well for the brand new transportation system. I understand protocol, but the repeated messages are similar to Chinese water torture techniques at this point.

Those still in the air were instructed to use the emergency kits provided.

Passengers said the gondolas had started to move again just after 11 p.m. Saturday night.

'The Skyliner will be closed while we look into the details surrounding this downtime, ' the statement said. "We express our honest apologies for the inconvenience and continue to work with each guest individually".

Disney representatives said they are working with each guest individually regarding the incident's impact on their visit.

Disney describes the Skyliner on its website as a "grand, state-of-the-art gondola system" that connects Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot to four Disney hotels. We haven't heard anything official about happened with Disney Skyliner and what caused the pile-up.
