Nicki Minaj shocked fans on Thursday when she announced that she's "decided to retire" in a tweet.

"To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, in the box- cuz ain't nobody checkin me", she added.

The performer recently canceled a scheduled appearance at a music festival in Saudi Arabia to protest the country's restrictive laws, including a ban on women driving without male escort. After her brief hiatus at the beginning of the year, the legendary female rapper released her most recent single "Megatron."

Minaj's fans were stunned by the news. "Love you for LIFE", she wrote.

CNN has reached out to Minaj's representatives for verification of this news as well as clarification as to whether this means the Grammy-nominated musician, who is also a producer and actress, will be retiring from all her endeavors.

Minaj has seemingly been dating Kenneth "Zoo" Petty for a few months. While she addressed her loyal supporters, the Queen noted that it's time for her to hang up the microphone and focus exclusively on building her life with Petty.
