"It's in Nintendo's DNA to keep thinking of new ways to entertain players and put smiles on their faces, and Ring Fit Adventure for Nintendo Switch is a new kind of game where fitness meets adventure", said Nintendo's European president, Stephan Bole.

Nintendo has officially unveiled the Ring Fit line of fitness devices that work with Nintendo Switch. Ring Fit Adventure will launch on October 18 for $79.99 (UK price TBA), including a copy of the game, a Ring-Con, and a Leg Strap. The game provides direction to players about how to perform the exercise correctly, with proper form and posture dealing more damage to enemies. The different challenges require players to squat, jog in place, stretch and so on.

While you're moving through the level, monsters will sometimes block your progress and kick off Fit Battles.

Unlike previous fitness games such as the Wii Fit, Ring Adventure has battles similar to an RPG, and there's even a bodybuilding dragon to defeat. Each one corresponds to an exercise, and targeting certain muscle groups will be more effective against certain enemies - naturally, your overall power is determined by how well you do the exercise.

In addition to the the standard adventure mode, there are a number of quick play modes as well.

Outside of the main adventure, Quick Play mode is a great way to enjoy Ring Fit Adventure in shorter bursts, allowing players to jump in and out of play. The Leg Strap, on the other hand, tracks lower-body motion. It seems like a fun way to get a little exercise in at home.
