"We have to get him right for this season".

As for his availability for Week 1, the 49ers GM said a lot more would be learned on Thursday and in the coming weeks as the team looks at how he is responding. He slowly headed into Levi's Stadium, with out help, for additional examination. The No. 2 total choose within the National Football League draft out of Ohio State, Bosa has had a prolonged injury historical past.

49ers defensive end Nick Bosa will miss the preseason with a "significant ankle sprain", general manager John Lynch told KNBR on Thursday.

"It's a significant ankle sprain, and there's that dreaded high ankle sprain".

The 49ers do not consider the injury to be serious, the source said, and Bosa is not expected to miss much time. "He had an over-300-pound man land on his leg, and it was very fortunate that we didn't lose him for the year", he continued.

The San Francisco 49ers took a chance by signing oft-injured Jason Verrett this offseason, and true to form, Verrett is injured again. We're gonna do what's in the best interest and trust the medical staff on that. "He's got a knack for pass rush, [and] he's been very good in the run game". Lynch said Bosa had characteristics of a high ankle sprain and said his availability for the regular-season opener at Tampa Bay on September 8 was in question.

"If he's not 100 percent ready for there, we want him for the long haul, not just for Week 1", Shanahan added. Yesterday he had a large human being fall on his leg while he was engaged with someone else. "He had a core muscle deal in his a year ago in college".

On Wednesday afternoon, it was reported that Nick Bosa was dealing "just an ankle sprain" and he likely wouldn't see any preseason action.
