Xiaomi has been working on improving its cameras over the past two years.

Starting August-end, Samsung will begin mass production of ISOCELL Bright HMX sensors.

Xiaomi actually made two announcements today.

While these are camera technologies waiting to be integrated into smartphones, the timing of Redmi Note 8 rumours couldn't be more fitting.

Unlike Samsung's 64MP camera, which was an open playing field, the 108MP sensor seems to have already been promised to a company: Xiaomi. "We are very pleased that picture resolutions previously available only in a few top-tier DSLR cameras can now be designed into smartphones", said Lin Bin, co-founder and president of Xiaomi. Like the Mi A2, the new Mi A3 will also be an Android One smartphone and will come with the latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system minus MIUI. Richer HDR snaps, larger image sizes and more vibrant detail are only just some of the features we can expect to see with this resolution bump. If you thought that 64MP is the future of smartphone photography, you might want to reconsider that.

As of now, there is no confirmation regarding which smartphone will be launched by Xiaomi having 108 megapixels camera.

It is not know at the moment what phone will be the one benefitting from this sensor, but reports mention the possibility of seeing this behemoth inside the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Mix 4. The Redmi Note 7S comes with the Snapdragon 660 SoC and a 48MP Samsung ISOCELL GM1 primary rear camera instead of the Sony sensor and is more affordable than the Note 7 Pro. The "Future of Camera" is definitely bright. "As we continue our partnership, we anticipate bringing not only new mobile camera experiences but also a platform through which our users can create unique content".
