The tweet also falsely claimed that Epstein died while on suicide watch, even though Epstein had been taken off of suicide watch before his death.

He was not being closely monitored at the time which was in violation of jail procedures, according to the New York Times.

Thus, the Metropolitan Correctional Center's management and the lapses of the American prison system, in general, must share the blame for Epstein's death, believes Julio Rivera, editorial director for Reactionary Times.

"If he killed himself someone had to have helped him [.] Someone had to give [Epstein] the equipment to kill himself and he had to pay for it dearly", Kasman said.

She also said "it's not for me to go further than where the DOJ and Federal Bureau of Investigation are right now", though that's what Trump appeared to be doing in his retweet. "Mr. Epstein's death raises serious questions that must be answered".

"We are enormously sorry to learn of Jeffrey Epstein's passing", Epstein's defense attorneys said in a statement Sunday. Beto O'Rourke said that Trump is trying to divide Americans and distract voters away from the issue of gun violence by fueling the conspiracy theory that Epstein did not commit suicide, but instead was killed by someone connected to former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Both the Bureau of Prisons and Attorney-General William Barr called the death an "apparent suicide", although one official said no final determination has been made. He had been under suicide watch after an alleged attempt to take his life on July 23, but was apparently transferred back to his cell about a week later.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons has said Epstein was found unresponsive in his cell early Saturday and was declared dead shortly afterward.

The FBI is investigating Epstein's death.

"Every single person in the Justice Department. knew that this man was a suicide risk, and that his dark secrets couldn't be allowed to die with him", Sasse wrote. At the MCC, it's reportedly standard practice for inmates on suicide watch to be assigned a cellmate, a person to provide company for someone with suicidal tendencies, and to alert guards for any emergencies that may arise, as Tartaglione once did.

Epstein's arrest last month launched separate investigations into how authorities handled his case initially when similar charges were first brought against him in Florida more than a decade ago.

He served just 13 months under a secret plea deal struck with the then federal prosecutor in the state, Alex Acosta, who was forced to resign as USA labor secretary last month over the issue.

Sigrid McCawley, Giuffre's attorney, said Epstein's suicide less than 24 hours after the documents were unsealed "is no coincidence".

Other accusers and their lawyers reacted to the news with frustration that the financier won't have to face them in court.

Brad Edwards, a Florida lawyer for almost two dozen other accusers, said that "this is not the ending anyone was looking for". "The victims deserved to see Epstein held accountable, and he owed it to everyone he hurt to accept responsibility for all of the pain he caused".

A Miami Herald series on the plea deal and the new charges in July renewed attention on the plea deal and spurred outrage against it.

His recent federal indictment in NY came over a decade after a non-prosecution agreement, signed by the US Attorney " s Office in South Florida allowed Epstein to avoid federal prosecution there, for allegedly molesting teenage girls.

Epstein had previously lived a lavish lifestyle, often socialising with powerful people, including princes and U.S. presidents.

Barr is livid at the events surrounding the apparent suicide of Epstein and is determined to get to the bottom of what happened, according to a source familiar with the situation.
