Loudoun South wins first two games in Little League World Series

The Coquitlam All-Stars are heading home from South Williamsport, Pa., a disappointed lot after being eliminated from the Little League World Series on Monday with an 8-1 loss to Curaçao.

Timmy Piasentin started on the mound for Coquitlam, lasting 4 2/3 innings. He gave up eight hits and seven runs while striking out eight Curaçao batters.

Curley Martha and Nathan Castillo each had two hits and drove in a run for the Caribbean representatives from Curacao.

The victor of Wednesday's game will advance to play in the US Final on Saturday; with the victor of the US Final securing a spot in the World Series title game on Sunday, Aug. 26.


The Little League World Series is a double-elimination tournament so Coon Rapids-Andover gets another swing at it on Monday, 7 p.m. versus Louisiana. The Southeast team is also undefeated so far in the tournament with two wins under their belt.

The team from Wailuku Maui advanced to the Little League World Series after winning the West Regional Title on August 10, in San Bernardino, California.

"We wanted to at least get one win and we competed in all the games we played".

Dorwart said it had been a long summer and the coaching staff had grown close to the team.


Triplett said that is just a bonus to playing in the games.

The Pirates and Cubs will play a regular season game Sunday night at a minor league field in Williamsport and the Virginia champs will be among the Little League teams in attendance.

"I told them in the speech after the (Curaçao) game how much I love them all".
