After connecting on 22 3-pointers over the first nine years of his career, Speights advanced his game, hitting 213 over the last three seasons at a 37.2 clip.

DeMarcus Cousins #40 of the Los Angeles Lakers watches the game on July 23, 2019 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Howard spent an injury-marred season with the Lakers in 2012-13 before leaving as a free agent.

The Memphis Grizzlies, who traded for Howard this summer, recently granted the Lakers permission to speak with him.

Gortat would be a stretch. The positive with Gortat is that he isn't rusty. The Lakers have set up workouts with several players as they attempt to figure out their rotation for the 2019-20 season with Boogie sidelined. He served as a backup center on the Golden State Warriors' championship-winning squad in 2015. Needless to say, his name wasn't rumored at all to be a target of the Lakers, so his name nearly feels like a random one thrown in the bag. Ramona Shelburne, who sat alongside Windhorst on ESPN's "The Jump", believes the Lakers will not make a decision in haste and that they will take their time before signing a replacement. He averaged 12.8 points and 9.2 rebounds in 25.6 minutes per game with the Wizards. That sentiment is supported by the fact that he's posted averages of 21.2 points, 10.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists per contest over the course of nine National Basketball Association seasons.

It's unknown if the Clippers have any interest in signing Noah, but the Los Angeles Lakers reportedly do, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Center Johnathan Williams was a two-way player for the Lakers last season and had a couple of strong moments, but there have yet to be any mentions of Williams or any of the younger centers on the market.

Despite all of the Twitter hate, it just makes too much sense for the Lakers to go with Speights over a former All-Star, a former Defensive Player of the Year and an worldwide phenom, right?
