The Croatian winger and the Bavarian club agreed terms on a €4.5 million annual salary which will rise if Bayern are to take up their option to sign him on a permanent basis.

Conte has already signed Romelu Lukaku from United up top, and is also close to brining in former Manchester City star Edin Dzeko, so the writing was on the wall for Ivan Perisic.

German newspaper Bild revealed a picture of the 30-year-old attacker leaving the Barmherzige Bruder hospital, where he underwent medical tests on Monday morning.

"I'm very glad to be back in Germany", he said.

"Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in Europe".

He had previously spent two years at Borussia Dortmund.

Niko Kovac has been in the market for at least one new wide forward following the departures of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

It remains unclear whether Bayern will still make a bid for Sane despite his injury.

While the Nerazzurri have no position for Perisic within their ranks, Bundesliga champions Bayern are happy to open their doors. "For me, it comes in the best five in the world", Perisic told the club's official website.

Perisic returns to the Bundesliga after four seasons in Italy.
