Whereas Omar, Carlson continued, "consistently puts her own race at the center of the conversation, but to us, it's irrelevant".

Levin wrote: "Once again, CNN comes to the defense of rabid anti-Semite Ilhan Omar".

"Not gonna lie, it's kinda fun watching a racist fool like this weeping about my presence in Congress", wrote Omar, a Somali refugee and one of two Muslim women ever elected to Congress.

Last month, Omar tweeted that on average 500 people are killed from gun violence each day in the United States as she tried to push a bill on background checks for firearm sales. "A system created to strengthen America is instead undermining it".

"No lies will stamp out my love for this country", added the congresswoman from Minnesota, "or my resolve to make our union more ideal".

Carlson's Tuesday segment started with him describing Omar's journey from Somalia - "one of the world's poorest countries" - to America, "the world's richest country with all the bounty that that implies", and claiming she has "a lot to be grateful for".

The Minnesota lawmaker, meanwhile, has been the at the receiving end of death threats nearly since she first entered Congress, largely due to right-wing attacks that have then been amplified by members of Congress and the president.

'The details might not have all matched, but that's what I remember, ' the first hibjab-wearing USA congresswoman said.

Fox News' Tucker Carlson returned fire in the ongoing clash between himself and Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar, opening his show with an extended attack on the Congresswoman, bashing her as a "grievance monger" who "hates" the country: "Omar isn't disappointed in America, she is enraged by it". "Ilhan Omar and her allies in Congress immediately demanded that this show be pulled off the air, they didn't rebut what we said, any of our points, or even acknowledge them".

The Washington Post reported that Omar recently told 400 Richfield High School students that she was sent to the courts to report on problems for a Minneapolis city councilman five years ago.

Carlson later blamed the American left for indoctrinating Omar and teaching her the "hustle" of "crying racism". She has said that American Jews control Congress and that Jews have dual loyalty. The Minnesota Democrat responded by saying that the Fox News host is "a racist fool".

This is not the first time the freshman congresswoman has been caught embellishing facts to support her arguments.

It is not exaggerating to say that Carlson's words are risky and have real potential to inspire violence against Omar as well as other immigrants and Muslim communities. Some of the very people we try hardest to help have come to hate us passionately.

"Maybe that's our fault, for asking too little of our immigrants", he says.

"Maybe we are importing people from places who are simply antithetical to ours", he said, describing Omar.

No country can import large numbers of people who hate it and expect to survive.
