Trump has said that under his administration, the United States is a global leader in protecting the environment, though in June 2017, he announced plans to withdraw the country from the Paris Agreement on climate change.

"We can have arguments about it isn't happening for this reason or that", he said.

President Donald Trump came to the defense of Home Depot co-founder Bernard Marcus after people said they would boycott the store because Marcus supports Trump. We want crystal clean water.

Wheeler, during the event, spoke about the administration's improvements in environmental monitors like air pollutants, as well as touting the administration's efforts on water infrastructure and environmental provisions for marine litter in the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement. The visible toxic algae blooms and green slime plaguing Lake Erie and other waterways in recent years are visual evidence that the Trump administration's anti-environmental policies are moving the Midwest backwards not forwards.

Mr Trump has vowed to pull the USA from the Paris Climate Agreement, an worldwide accord to fight global warming through carbon emissions cuts and a transformation of the world economy away from fossil fuels.

"In addition to clean air and clean water that means being good stewards of our public lands, prioritizing cleanup of our polluted lands that threaten our most vulnerable citizens and threaten them very dearly, and implementing pro-growth policies to implement innovations and new technologies which improve American life and America's environment", he added.

Climate change was not mentioned in Trump's speech, nor in an outline released by the White House Monday.

"There has never been a president who has actively pursued an agenda so hostile to the environment and public health at the behest of polluters than Mr Trump", he said.

President Trump used the pomp and circumstance of the East Room, complete with an entrance to "Hail to the Chief" and a bevy of supportive Cabinet members, to tout "America's Environmental Leadership" on Monday.

In addition, Perry claimed Trump has, "a great story to tell", and should possibly speak about it more often.

Climate change has become a bigger concern for Democrats than for Trump's Republicans. "America and American natural gas, American innovation - that's what's going to change the world from the standpoint of having clean air".

The United States also slipped in the global environmental rankings to No. 27 in 2018 from 26th during the previous year of the Obama administration, according to the Environmental Performance Index, a project by Yale and Columbia universities to measure national performance on air, water, forestry and other metrics.
