Singer Taylor Swift was named the world's highest-paid entertainer on Wednesday but was closely followed by two members of the wider Kardashian clan - reality star turned cosmetics queen Kylie Jenner and rapper Kanye West.

Swift is no stranger to the top of the Forbes list however. The mag says her estimated pay increased an insane 131% from the year before, when she made a paltry $80 mil. Her Reputation world tour (which began last year) became the highest grossing U.S tour ever since Billboard began tracking tours in 1990 (!), while her 1984 tour in 2017 was also largely successful.

Seventeen celebrities are new on the list this year, with National Football League players dominating, and almost a third are from outside the US. Cooper hit no. 43 this year, while his co-star Lady Gaga came in at no. 90 with earnings of $39.5 million.

Six actors from the Marvel Universe also made it into the Celebrity 100 thanks to the success of Avengers: Endgame.

Her inclusion on the list proved controversial, with many claiming her "billionaire" status derived in part from her famous family. According to Forbes, the makeup mogul pulled in $170 million in pretax income over the past year.

In fourth place is Lional Messi, and in fourth is Ed Sheeran.

Forbes compiled its 2019 list by estimating pre-tax earnings from June 2018-June 2019, before deducting fees for managers, based on data from Nielsen, touring trade publication Pollstar, movie database IMDB and interviews with industry experts and numerous celebrities themselves.
