Nintendo Switch Lite Price and Release Date Announced

Nintendo have announced that a brand-new version of their popular Switch console is set to be released later this year, called the Nintendo Switch Lite. It's also worth noting that the Nintendo Switch Lite is not compatible with Nintendo's cardboard construction kits, Nintendo Labo.

The Switch Lite is otherwise a smaller, lighter version of the console you know, able to access the same features and play the same games (aside from the exceptions noted above).

Switch Lite does not offer many of its bigger sibling's options such as a kickstand for tabletop gaming or support for video output to televisions. "Now consumers can choose the system that best suits how they like to play their favorite Nintendo Switch games".

It'll come in three different colors, Yellow, Turquoise, and Grey. On November 8, Nintendo will launch two limited edition Switch Lite consoles - one for Zacian, and one for Zamazenta - to celebrate the new Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Switch Lite has the same 32GB of built-in storage, a MicroSD card slot for expandable storage, identical volume button layout, a headphone port and USB-C for charging.

When does the Nintendo Switch Lite release?

.

The Nintendo Switch Lite will launch on September 20, 2019 and cost $199.99 (roughly £160 or AU$290).

The Lite also does away with the larger Switch's infrared sensor. The 5.5-inch screen is slightly smaller, the battery life is slightly longer, and the Joy-Con controllers are built into the device rather than being detachable. Instead the Switch Lite has integrated controls (much like the 3DS) and doesn't come with an HDMI cable or dock.

All you get in the box is the system and an AC adapter. You can see all of the differences on Nintendo's new landing page. Yes, but you will probably need an additional Joy-Con controller or controllers to wirelessly connect to the Nintendo Switch Lite in order to play party games.
