The deal also includes an €800m release clause.

The transfer of forward Griezmann to the Catalan club has been made official after weeks of speculation, with the 28-year-old having announced he would depart Atletico after five years in the Spanish capital this summer.

Barcelona are hoping they can announce the signing of Antoine Griezmann on Friday, if everything goes as planned, Mundo Deportivo reports.

The Frenchman was one of the candidates to replace Neymar in 2017, but Griezmann ended up renewing his contract at Atletico Madrid. Griezmann's release clause dropped from €200m on July 1 and sources told ESPN FC at the time that the Blaugrana were working on a deal for the attacker. He will then be free to sign for Barca.

Griezmann is the third high-profile player to leave Atletico this summer after defender Lucas Hernandez joined Bayern Munich and long-serving captain Diego Godin left to join Inter Milan after his contract expired. The two clubs met in Madrid last Thursday but it quickly became apparent that Atletico would not accept a payment plan.

"We will shortly be publishing the full schedule for the presentation of Antoine Griezmann as a new member of the Barça first team". They had talked him out of releasing another documentary-style video to make his announcement.

The club has since added some details surrounding the deal.
