Green told Dave McMenamin of ESPN he had no clue where Leonard was going to sign, though he was pretty certain it wasn't going to be the Los Angeles Lakers. He returned nearly exactly a year later and played 30 games for the Golden State Warriors in the 2018-2019 season, only to suffer a quad injury in the playoffs that forced him to miss another six weeks. Obviously when you're with a winning team and you've won, you want to run it back if it's possible.

According to Green, Leonard only truly considered the Clippers and Raptors.

"Those five days seemed like five months", he said. "Everything I've gone through in the past three years it just helped me realize how fast this thing can be taken away from you". Like, 'I got to wait another day, dude? Cousins looked unplayable at times in the 2019 NBA Finals when he came back from his second major injury. James has said his dream would be to play alongside his son. "It's insane how some things work out".

The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly discussed the possibility of starting LeBron James at the point guard position in the 2019-20 season, but head coach Frank Vogel says there is "no imminent plan" in place right now. "A lot of different lineups and combinations have been discussed, but it's really way too early for any of that". "I think this is a rivalry growing back to where it was before". We enjoyed our time together as teammates. I think it'll be something that's going to grow into something, hopefully something that's unbelievable for the fans to watch. "I'm just excited for the opportunity". "We never wanted it to end, but everything kind of happens for a reason".

That wasn't the case with Green, who admits Davis and James were a major perk of him signing with the Lakers.

If you thought that was enough to get Green some inside information on Leonard's decision, you would be wrong. "Nobody knew about it". I checked in with [Leonard] all the time. "I had no idea where he was going".
