Jewelry company Charming Charlie is going out of business and closing all stores after reportedly filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

There are four Charming Charlie stores in SC: a location at Market Common, Columbia, Greenville and Spartanburg, its website states. It exited its first bankruptcy just past year after closing about 100 stores.

Charming Charlie, which has almost $82 million in debt, expects to close its brick-and-mortar stores by the end of August, according to court documents.

According to Fortune, the company blamed high lease costs as one of the factors that lead to filing bankruptcy.

The company estimated having about $19.8 million in gift cards outstanding, and expects roughly $7.8 million of that to be redeemed.

If you go to Charming Charlie's website, this is what you'll see.

Charming Charlie's announcement adds to what has been a disastrous year for retail operations in the United States.

Say goodbye to another mall store.

"These efforts simply were not sufficient to stabilize the Debtors' businesses and ensure long-term profitability", Bellon said.
