Shown live on Twitch, Gunfight delivers a new level of quick-action, close-quarters duo-based combat that is a blast to play and to watch.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will make its return in a powerful experience reimagined from the ground-up, engulfing players in a modern-day conflict, where split-second decisions could affect the global balance of power. That's good for some, but there is a sector of Call of Duty fans that's all about the multiplayer.

Activision and Infinity Ward have offered a first reveal for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's multiplayer with more still to come. It takes three seconds to claim the flag, but if the enemy team wipes you out in those three seconds, they win. Maps are custom made - of which three have been revealed so far (King, Pine and Stack) - and they're much smaller than normal, with everyone getting the same loadouts.

Two teams with two players each are put on a tiny map and have 40 seconds to find and defeat the other team. More often than not, the rounds will go into Overtime, so while the main objective is about eliminating the other team, the Overtime session will favor the team that knows how to defend control points. PC and Xbox One players will have to wait a week. The mode is an excellent reminder of what gives Call of Duty's multiplayer its lasting popularity.

Another year, another Call of Duty and another attempt by Activision's annual blockbuster franchise to offers some new digital crack via its multiplayer suite of game modes. We got a nice taste of the game today, but the full reveal event is happening on August 1st. I have a amusing feeling this will become the most competitive mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare when it's all said and done.
