While there isn't much solid information about the plot available, the summer camp setting shown in the teaser suggests that it will pay homage to the slasher films of the 1980s.

But Ross now has a different Ryan Murphy series in her future: the actress announced on Twitter that she has been cast in American Horror Story: 1984, the latest installment of Murphy's and Brad Falchuk's anthology horror series for FX.

'Thank you @mrrpmurphy for the gift of playing Candy & creating my newest role on American Horror Story! And some other members of the cast make appearances as well: Cody Fern, DeRon Horton, Leslie Grossman, Matthew Morrison, Angelica Ross, and more, including John Carroll Lynch definitely dressed up to look like the creepy slick-coat-wearing killer.

Emma Roberts will star in the series. First and foremost, it was just revealed that series staple Sarah Paulson would be sitting this round out along with Evan Peters, who shared the sad news earlier this year. In that series, Paulson plays the character of Nurse Ratched from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", but this is a prequel to that story. Cult and Apocalypse vet Billy Eichner (The Lion King) also revealed in May that we would not return for the upcoming ninth season. The actor is now filming "Mrs. America" and "Ratched" for television, and in film she wrapped "Run" from Aneesh Chaganty, the animated-comedy "Abominable", "The Goldfinch", and starred in 2019's "Glass" from M. Night Shyamalan.

We'll probably have to wait til September 18 to find out, but either way, there's always a twist of some sort with American Horror Story, no matter how confusing or sometimes nonsensical.
